Emptying the Bag on a Vintage Kirby Upright Vacuum (VERY EASY)

If you own an old school vacuum, specifically an upright Kirby, congratulations! You likely won't need to buy a vacuum for the rest of your life. However, you will need to empty the bag. This is a step-by-step video on emptying the bag on vintage Kirby vacuum models, and this should apply to most of the older style Kirbys. This one in the video is a Dual Sanitronic 50 model, made between 1965-1967. It is a simple process, although a bit more complicated than you may think. Most models have a "tray" underneath the vacuum that is held on with prongs, and that is where the dirt and dust collects. it is not a large tray, at all, so make sure to empty the tray frequently! The manual recommends emptying it after 2-3 uses. I think that is a bit too frequent, for the average amount of stuff picked up during a typical vacuum cycle. However, you shouldn't use it as your only vacuum for 6 months, and then empty it. This is a process that should be done outside, NOT in your home, but in a garage or outside. You should also place some cardboard under the vacuum. This process releases a bunch of dust from inside the vacuum, and you don't want that in your house. A word about old style vacuums: Vintage vacuums rule, first and foremost. Here's the proof, along with the hundreds of thousands of old vacuums that still are in existence. Picture this: it's 1966, and you're 22, and just bought your first house. You go out and buy a brand new vacuum. Being that you were 22 in 1966, that would make you 77, in 2021. That means that you either have owned this vacuum for almost the ENTIRETY of your adult life, or the vacuum has outlived you. I highly doubt that a vacuum made in 2021 will be around in 2098. Ironically, my grandmother also has a vintage Kirby that she bought new, a Classic Omega, made between 1973-1976. Guess what? It still works.
