18th EAST ASIA SUMMIT (EAS)

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. joins his fellow Leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), alongside their counterparts from Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea and the United States of America, for the 18th East Asia Summit (EAS) at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Jakarta, Indonesia on September 7, 2023. The EAS is a premier leaders-led forum for dialogue and cooperation on broad strategic, political and economic issues of common interest and concern with the aim of promoting peace, stability and economic prosperity in East Asia. The East Asia Summit has identified six (6) priority areas of cooperation: environment and energy, education, finance, global health issues and pandemic diseases, natural disaster management and ASEAN Connectivity. Plans of Actions have been developed to promote cooperation on these priority areas. The East Asia Summit also addresses cooperation in additional areas and emerging issues including food security, trade and economics, maritime security and cooperation, as well as traditional and non-traditional security concerns.
