Yet another product that Viomi is launching for the European market: The Viomi Smart Water kettle with Bluetooth control through the Mi Home APP. -How good is it really? -Find the Viomi kettle on •Ebay here: https://ebay.to/2VLNSaU Optionally find it here on • AliExpress: http://bit.ly/XMF_AE_VWK • Gearbest: http://bit.ly/XMF_GB_VWK • Bangood: http://bit.ly/XMF_BG_VWK The Viomi smart water kettle is one of the Viomi products launching on the European market, starting with a launch in Germany. The kettle has a 1.5-liter capacity, double layer insulation and consumes about 1800W. In the handle, it has boiling and warm-water buttons and an OLED display that indicates the current water temperature which is pretty cool. It can connect with your phone or tablet using Bluetooth, and this (*for now) only works with the Mi Home APP using the European server. ( I was told the Chinese, and other, servers will be supported soon as well...) From the Mi Home APP, you can set the actual temperature when boiling water and adjust the keep-warm settings like what temperature you would like it to keep your water and for how long. Unfortunately, it is not possible to boil the water from within the APP remotely like it used to be possible with the Mijia kettle. (The fact that it's also no longer possible with the Mijia kettle I believe this is a restriction coming from Xiaomi) Comparing the Viomi water kettle with the Mijia kettle (with and without Bluetooth) the specs are not THAT different. The main differences being that the Viomi actually comes in black (as opposed to the white Mijia kettles) and it has an OLED display to indicate the water temperature. (which is the main plus IMO) The Viomi did seem to keep the water the warmest over the period of one hour, but that was just a marginal difference. Overall I do like the Viomi water kettle: It looks nice in black and the OLED display is a very cool addition but not being able to remotely turn the kettle on/off is slightly disappointing. (I am not ruling out that an OTA-update of the Mi Home APP could actually introduce the water-boiling functionality, but I am really not sure if we will ever see this happen....) This makes the Bluetooth functionality a little bit of a gimmick and its main purpose is really just to give you slightly more control over the water temperature. That being said, I do like the water kettle, but simply would have loved to see some more functionality with the Mi Home APP.
