'White privilege': Outreach group speaks out over new report on DA Sandra Doorley's traffic stop

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — The Monroe County Office of Public Integrity said District Attorney Sandra Doorley acted inappropriately and abusively toward a Webster police officer during her April 22 traffic stop in a report released Monday. Now, community members are once again demanding Doorley be held accountable. "The language that she used, being very abusive in her language, would have warranted enough for the officers — in their minds — to use physical violence against a Black man," argued Mike Johnson, an organizer for Save Rochester. The report ruled Doorley attempted to secure unwarranted privileges or exemptions by calling the Webster police chief when an officer attempted to pull her over for speeding. Johnson thinks Doorley deserves more than a slap on the wrist. "I think this is a clear case of white privilege," he argued. "(It's) definitely a clear case of power and privilege sort of taking priority over the administration of law and justice, and law and order."
