Touring the Henry B Plant Museum on the University of Tampa Campus | Fun Things to do in Tampa, FL

In today's video, we decided to drive down to the University of Tampa and go on the campus to tour the old Tampa Bay Hotel that was built in 1891 but is now part of the Henry B Plant Museum. The building is also used as different campus rooms/offices. The Henry B Plant Museum is a portion of the building and it is a really cool museum. It is $10 a ticket to get in and it is a self-guided tour where you use your headphones and phone to go around and listen to the audio explaining the hotel. There are a ton of artifacts and collections in the museum as well. Each room has different things in it and there are some rooms that they put back to what it would have looked like when the hotel was built. Henry Plant bought up foreclosed railroads and started building hotels next to them. This allowed traveling customers on his railroads to stay at his hotels. The Tampa Bay Hotel featured a casino, a boathouse, a tennis court, a golf course, 500 plus rooms, three stories, lots of collectibles, and a fireplace in nearly every room! The hotel offered hunting trips and lots of activities and a huge dining room. It was unbelievable! We can't even imagine what it would have been like arriving back in the 1890s as the train was arriving at the front of the hotel. It is very beautifully designed. Honestly, we could write a lot about this place: the gift shop was good, the campus was pretty, the staircase was amazing, seeing all the designs in the hotel and the craftsmanship, and the egg doorknobs! Honestly, if you are looking for fun things to do in Tampa, Florida, stop by the Henry B Plant Museum on the University of Tampa Campus. There is so much history and so many cool things.
