We've already discussed reef sand and how to make saltwater, but how do you add these two things into your display tank safely? Well, it's not that hard. Start by adding the reef "live" sand first. Just be sure to scoop it in gently, don't pour it in. You don't want to splatter the sand on the glass walls, because even after it's full of saltwater, you still may scratch the glass the first time you use a magnetic algae scraper. Then add the aquascape, and be sure it's settled firmly on the glass bottom, not on top of the sand. To add seawater, use a plate, bowl, or colander and pour the water directly on top. This will help disperse the water and not cause a huge sandstorm. Next up, install your return pump and either filter sock or sponge. Leave the filter sock in for about 24 hours, then take it out and rinse it, and put it back in. This will help make the water super clear. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Affiliate disclaimer: This video and description contains affiliate links, which means that if you click on one of the product links and make a purchase, I’ll receive a small commission.
