The oscillating nature of the ocean waves. The angular shapes of the Churchill Barriers. The meandering contour of the coast and clouds. This composition for string sextet takes its inspiration from the natural and man-made structures of Orkney depicted in Tim Williams’s film Orkney at War, a stark scenery where the forces of nature share the stage with relics of World War II. Playing on the tension between geological and historical time, this piece gradually awakens fragments of long-forgotten melodies, ancient and modern stories hidden in the dramatic landscapes of Orkney. – Nina Danon Learn more about Nina Danon: https://www.ninadanon.com
