Australia's Snorkeling Hidden Gem & Our Trip to Kalbarri Ruined?

Quobba Blowholes, Snorkeling at The Aquarium & Crowded Kalbarri National Park | Half Lap of Australia: Episode 14 🏞️🐠 In this episode of our Half Lap of Australia, join us—Megan, Stuey, Evelyn, and Thea—as we continue our adventure along the stunning Ningaloo Coastline and beyond! From dramatic ocean blowholes to fish-filled snorkelling spots and a surprising turn at Kalbarri National Park, this leg of the trip was one for the books! Day 38: After leaving the beauty of Warroora Station behind, we set our sights on the Quobba Blowholes, where the ocean puts on a spectacular show! Massive jets of water burst through narrow sea caves, shooting up to 20 metres in the air—it’s a sight you have to see to believe. Next, we hit Point Quobba’s Aquarium for some of the most magical snorkelling we’ve ever done. We found ourselves surrounded by hundreds of fish while standing in knee to waist-deep water—one of Ningaloo Reef’s best-kept secrets! On our way through Carnarvon, we stopped to vote (yep, that happened!) and checked out the Cactus Garden—a spot that’s much smaller than it looks in photos, but still worth a quick visit. The plantations, however, were a little underwhelming this late in the season, with many closed early. The day wrapped up perfectly at Wooramel River Retreat, where we soaked in the massive tubs of hot bore water under the stars—total bliss! Day 39: The next morning, we ventured into the awe-inspiring Kalbarri National Park. While the park’s views, rock formations, and the Skywalk are truly stunning (and Stu’s fear of heights made for some fun moments), we were a bit disappointed by the crowds. The iconic Nature’s Window was packed with tourists, and we had to wait in line for a quick 30-second photo op, which made it hard to fully appreciate the beauty. For such a remote, rugged location, the experience felt much more touristy than we expected. Despite the crowds, Kalbarri’s landscapes were absolutely breathtaking. We finished the day camping at the Kalbarri Tudor Holiday Park, where local kangaroos hopping through the park made for a fun evening! Day 40: Before leaving Kalbarri, we made sure to squeeze in some playtime at the Foreshore Playground (the flying fox is always a hit with the girls!). Then we stopped by the Blue Holes beach. Although it was too chilly for a swim, Evelyn and Thea couldn’t resist getting their feet wet before we packed up and headed out. Next Episode: As we continue our journey south, we’ll stop at some incredible road trip landmarks like Hutt Lagoon and the Pinnacles Desert, and we might just spot some cheeky quokkas along the way!
