A fishing destination that should be on everyone's bucket list. Remote Jackson Bay on the West Coast of the South Island is a true wild fishing paradise. This is my favourite fishing spot on the South Island. It is very protected from overfishing due to it's remoteness and often un-fishable weather conditions. The closest basic facilities are in the small town of Haast, 50km away. There's no cellphone reception and the NZ sandflies are ferocious. Nevertheless this is a dream come true for every fisherman. There is a long wharf for great land-based fishing. I went for a kayak fishing adventure and also for a dive. I caught so many Gurnard here, it was crazy.
