Cette transcription de la partie piano jouée par Phil Markowitz sur Broken Wing du compositeur Richie Beirach, figurant sur le disque Live at Nick’s du quartet de Chet Baker représente un travail minutieux entamé il y a une trentaine d’années. A l’époque, lors d’un concert de Dave Liebman à Pont-à-Mousson, j’avais rencontré Phil qui l’accompagnait et lui ai proposé une ébauche de cette transcription réalisée avec Notator sur Atari. En échange, Phil m’avait envoyé son disque Sno’ Peas sorti en 1991. Depuis, il y a eu du chemin dans mon parcours musical. Travaillant actuellement avec LogicPro, j’ai décidé de reprendre cette transcription, qui me passionne toujours autant. J’adore le choix des voicings qui déroulent un élégant tapis pour Chet, ainsi que la structure du solo et l’atmosphère qui s’en dégage. At the time, during a Dave Liebman concert in Pont-à-Mousson, I met Phil who accompanied him and offered him a draft of this transcription made with Notator on Atari. In exchange, Phil had sent me his Sno' Peas record released in 1991. Since then, there has been a long way in my musical journey. Currently working with LogicPro, I decided to resume this transcription, which I am still so passionate about. I love the choice of voicings that roll out an elegant carpet for Chet, as well as the structure of the solo and the atmosphere that emerges from it.
