Among the eight heritage sites in Patan the most attractive one is Durbar Square. The history of this Durbar square is still a mystery. With little evidence, some records hint the “Thakuri Dynasty” built a palace and reformed the locality. Although credit goes to Malla Kings for the establishment of the royal square. Most of the current architectures of the Durbar square are from the 1600s. The most attractive place in Patan Durbar square is Patan museum . The museum collection includes over 1500 artifacts. The bronzes and gilt copper repousse work created in Patan, India, Tibet and Western Himalayas. Their meaning and cultural context are explained the long span of Nepal’s cultural history.
