Sedbergh & District Christmas Lights 2020

(Please be aware this video contains flashing images) With the pandemic restrictions making Sedbergh’s traditional Late Night Opening & Light Switching-On Ceremony impossible, we thought it would be fitting to ask some of our key workers and emergency services personnel to turn on various displays around the town instead and share the videos with you. The original idea expanded into a virtual tour of Sedbergh Main Street and some of the wonderful displays in the town and beyond. Grateful thanks to Dr Chrissie Hunt from Sedbergh Medical Centre for braving the rain to turn on the tree lights outside Sedbergh Information & Book Centre; Sedbergh Firefighters for putting the last bulb in their tree at the Fire Station; Police Community Support Officers from South Lakes Police for switching on the lights at Sedbergh People’s Hall; and Emergency Medical Technicians & Paramedics from NW Ambulance Service Sedbergh Station for diagnosing and treating their lights at Sedbergh Towers. The soundtrack is taken from a Christmas CD produced by Sedbergh School CCF Band & Drums in 2006, led by their late bandmaster – the much-missed Alan Lewis – who also led Sedbergh Town Band.
