Here is my take on a fantastic instrumental section from the track "Extinction Blues" from the album "Candyman" by Steve Lukather, one of my all time favourite albums from Steve. This track is cooking with a more heavier rock sound, in face the album has that feel throughout. The instrumental part in the middle is awesome and very haunting and suits the song very well. Its full of twists and turns and has a very emotional sound with ton's of tension. It starts with a low kinda Aminor 9 open riff thing and walks up like a James Bond riff thing. It then goes to a higher pitch kind of same riff but not exactly the same and its a tricky one to play if your not focused and switched on.Then it goes to an awesome Aminor pentotonic riff run down with a triplet feel. Such a great track and what great lyrics indeed. The right finger numbers and pick technique are very important for this. I am a Composer, Producer, Guitarist and Tutor and have been for many years now teaching Guitar and music production.I decided to do an instructional video on this section and share the great feel, techniques and tones from Steve Lukather.
