First Test of Orpho’s New Prototypes: the Orb Former and Volt Glider CV Recorder modules—two intriguing tools expanding rhythmic and modulation possibilities in Eurorack setups. Orb Former – Euclidean Rhythm Module The Orb Former generates two independent Euclidean rhythm sequences, evenly distributing beats across a set number of steps. These sequences are displayed on a clear OLED screen, allowing for up to 16 steps per sequence. Potentiometers adjust both beat and step count, enabling a range of polyrhythmic patterns. Dedicated buttons allow start and pause control for each sequence, while reset and interrupt options provide additional rhythm management. LEDs signal each beat, giving visual feedback. For instance, setting 16 steps with 3 beats on one channel and 13 steps with 5 beats on the other creates a complex pattern that only synchronizes every 208 steps—ideal for those looking to experiment with rhythmic depth. Currently in the prototype phase, the Orb Former offers promising features for rhythm creation. Volt Glider CV Recorder – Touch-Based CV Modulation The Volt Glider CV Recorder captures touch gestures as CV signals and enables playback via a touch-sensitive interface. With adjustable sampling rate and gain, this module provides smooth modulation effects at high sampling rates and more segmented, rhythmic patterns at lower rates. Playback can be triggered by a button or an external trigger, allowing flexible integration within modular systems. Also a prototype, the Volt Glider allows for intuitive, interactive modulation. These first tests of Orpho’s prototypes show promising approaches for new explorations in rhythm and modulation.
