Chess Openings: Learn to Play the Alekhine's Defense - Scandinavian Variation! On this channel we have covered a ton of chess openings for black against e4 including the Elephant Gambit, Pirc Defense, Sicilian Najdorf, Sicilian Dragon, Owen's Defense, Scandinavian Defense, and Caro-Kann Defense. We have also covered the Alekhine's Defense, but in today's video we cover a specific chess opening line with the Scandinavian Variation. The main line against the Alekhine's Defense includes white pushing the center pawns like crazy and potentially going into the Four Pawns Attack. However, as Alekhine's Defense players, this is exactly what we want. We are giving the e4 player control of the center, but in return are going to attack that central pawn structure for the rest of the game, always trying to find attacking lines and variations. Many e4 players (including myself!) have opted to ignore the main line, and instead play Nc3 against the Alekhine's Defense. This gives us the opportunity to transpose into the Vienna Game or Pirc Defense, but there's a good chance you don't want this as you played the Alekhine's Defense at move 1!
