Enjoying Ourdoor Onsen in a Ryokan

this is the second time we visited this place. Our first visit was a day trip only, and we liked the experience. we decided to come back and stay in their ryokan. I booked this place for one night, and the average cost is ¥15,000 per person, which includes dinner and breakfast. The outdoor onsen is mixed gender and there is also separate for women and men. A few years ago, during our first visit, men bathing in the outdoor onsen was only given a small towel to cover their private part while women were given a brown bathing robe to use (It is still being used up to this day). I think this Ryokan/ onsen attracted a lot of foreign tourists, and they now give men a small cloth to wrap around their waist for bathing. A day trip from Tokyo can be done to enjoy this onsen experience, however guests must be mindful of the train amd bus schedule because I think there is only 1 or 2 schedules that will work for day use.
