Directors have a lot of power on a film set and when you get a sound friendly Director, your audio tracks will be next level but when you have a Director that's only focused on picture, it takes a toll on your sanity. The sound department wants excellent tracks but sometimes, the Director's vision can only be accomplished if fans are blowing the actor's hair or if everyone in the background is really screaming on set while running from a CGI monster. Sometimes Directors get better results playing mood music on set for the actors to perform to and that brings a whole new level of complexity to recording dialogue. Luckily we boom operators are masters of reading people and use our top tier customer service skills to get the best possible results on set.
