Technoeconomic Prospects of Electrochemical Formic Acid Production Streamlining CCUS

Join us for an groundbreaking session on "Technoeconomic Prospects of Electrochemical Formic Acid Production Streamlining CCUS & Green Hydrogen Economies," hosted by Professor Dawid Hanak. This event will feature Prof Abdelghafour Zaabout from University Mohammed 6 Polytechnic (UM6P), who will discuss the techno-economic prospects of electrochemical production of formic acid. In this session, Prof Zaabout will present the outputs of the comprehensive bottom-up approach to techno-economic assessment, incorporating diverse geographical locations with varying solar and wind resources. We will also explore several FA production scenarios, with the emphasis on the impact of a reliable power supply to the electrochemical cell (EC), as well and the impact of design assumptions on the the levelized cost of FA production. About the speaker Prof. Abdelghafour Zaabout is an Associate Professor at the University Mohammed 6 Polytechnic (UM6P). He has over a decade of expertise in decarbonisation and energy transition, developing highly efficient and cost-effective technologies for decarbonising the industrial, energy, and hydrogen sectors. Before joining UM6P, he worked as a Senior Scientist at SINTEF Industry in Norway and a postdoctoral stay at the Eindhoven University of Technology. Throughout the last decade, he served as a key driver in demonstrating several CO2 capture and low-carbon hydrogen production technologies. Recent activities deal with the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate industries with a special focus on linking CCUS and carbon-negative pathways to renewable energy systems. Prof. Zaabout co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed journal papers & several patents, as well as co-supervised dozens of students combining Ph.D. students, postdocs, and graduates. He also served as a panellist at several key events for promoting CCUS industry in Africa (e.g., COP27, CCUS Forum, Global CCUS Summit), he chaired key sessions in several international conferences (e.g., GHGT 16, Int. Conference on Fluidization), and lectured in many decarbonization-related events Funding acknowledgement This event is delovered as a part of the Virtual Networking Grant awarded to Prof. Dawid Hanak by COST Action on Techno-economic analysis of carbon mitigation technologies (TrANsMIT, CA21127). Don't miss this opportunity to learn from one of the leading experts in the field and gain valuable insights into the future of decarbonizing shipping emissions. Whether you're a professional in the maritime industry, an environmental advocate, or simply interested in cutting-edge technologies, this session promises to be both informative and inspiring. #netzero #cccus #research #climate #science
