Papa'a beach snorkeling    • Papa'a beach in Kauai is awesome and ...   Moloa'a beach snorkeling    • Kauai, Moloa'a bay, snorkel round 2. ...   Three remote beaches on the East side of Kauai Hawaii that no one really goes to. Two require a very short walk and are located in rural areas. Few people even know the first two beaches even exist, including many locals. A short drive from and Kapaa. These beaches are better than Poipu and far less crowded than Hanalei bay or Anini. But easier to access than Ke'e and safer than Poli Hali. The first beach is Papa'a and has good snorkeling and swimming with ample parking. But be sure to stay inside the reef and do not venture too far north or past the rocks. There is a short walk down the bluff but the trail is easy and short. The second beach is Moloa'a just up the road from Papa'a. be sure to plug it into your map because it is several miles down some very small roads through farmland and ending in a residential neighbourhood. Parking is very limited. Snorkeling and swimming in Moloa'a is fair. There is a stream that mixes fresh water with salt water creating hazy visibility near the surface near the stream mouth. The water gets fairly deep in the bay and there is no outer reef so consider that before getting too far from shore. Gilligan's Island was filmed on this beach and it is a perfect beach for taking a long walk to look for whales. The third beach is Kalihiwai. Just down the road from Anini but far less crowded.There is boogie boarding and surfing in the bay. There is a shallow river that is good for Kayaking and stand up paddle boarding that empties into the bay. The beach is very large with lots of parking and there is a small rope swing into the mouth of the river.
