Pugin St Mary's Convent Birmingham Walk-through gothic architecture
Footage from a recent tour of this fine example of Pugin design. The convent buliding was created with the help of a familiar group of designers/benefactors. John Hardman of Hardman & Co who lived opposite donated the land for the Sisters of Mercy. The cost of building the convent was met by Hardman and the Earl of Shrewsbury who donated £2000. They then commissioned Augustus Pugin to design the building for them in around 1840.
