Within a period of ten years, the actor began appearing in films. While most stars signed long-term contracts with studios around the time that Montgomery came into the entertainment industry, the actor had other ideas. Montgomery never signed a long-term contract, with the actor instead using his success on Broadway to garner roles of his choosing. The performer was selective about roles, only appearing in films he deemed worthy. Montgomery’s unique career choices paid off, with one of the actor’s first gigantic successes being 1951’s A Place in the Sun. The film saw Montgomery grace the screen alongside Elizabeth Taylor, and the two were dubbed the most attractive couple to have ever graced the screen.
