Testing the PCBs I had made from PCBWay for an Op Amp development board. I made a few mistakes or “creative decisions” in the placement of some parts in the schematic where I should have probably put a few more components separating other components but with the nature of the design being socketed I can always make tweaks up in the air. This PCB was designed with through hole parts and has a DIP socket for a dual Op Amp IC, so different op amps can be experimented with. There are on board potentiometers for gain/level/bias settings, headers for single or dual power supply inputs, signal input and output headers plus optional audio input and output jacks. The rest of the components are intended to be swappable with 0.1 inch female headers, allowing resistors, capacitors, and diodes to be plugged in to configure the op amps in various common circuits for experimentation. Some configuration possibilities are inverting or non-inverting amplifiers, differential amp, unity gain voltage follower, integrator, differentiator, precision rectifier, oscillator, low pass and high pass filter, diode clipper, etc. If a final circuit configuration is going to be soldered without the sockets, the through hole parts can be soldered, or certain surface mount components may also be soldered between the 0.1 inch header pads. By using the optional audio jacks, guitar effect circuits may be experimented with, and by using the various input and output headers to isolate circuit blocks, signals may be routed to another PCB such as a Teensy or other processor to apply other analog or digital effects or signal processing.
