Hey everyone, I hope this finds you safe and healthy. I’m sure you’re doing the best you can in these very trying times. As you may know we (‪@TheMavericks‬) have been filming videos, promo material, content, etc...to coincide with the release of our new album cleverly titled “En Español”. Sometimes while shooting material for the new record, more often than not someone will start a different song and before you knew it we’re recording something we’ve never played before. That’s what happened with “Here Comes The Sun”. We were recording one of the Spanish songs when EP started with the opening lick… Sure we got distracted for a little while…but we ended up with “Here Comes the Sun”! ☀️ For this Quarantunes, it was basically the same situation. We were under the gun to record some promotional material when I started singing this next song. It wasn’t long before this video happened. I know this song has become something else throughout the years. Great songs often do. At its core, it is still a beautiful song. And as we navigate our way through this pandemic, the words take on a relevance that not even the author could foresee. In this case, the author happens to be the one and only ‪@NeilDiamondOfficial‬. I personally have known Neil since the late 90’s when he came to Nashville to record his Tennessee Moon album. He’s been on my mind lately, and I started playing the song that afternoon. It also happens to be my little sister’s name, and I used to sing it to her when we were kids.
