NAIL This Basic TWO CHORD Jazz Progression: TONIC & DOMINANT...

The foundation of most of the tunes in the standard jazz repertoire is the movement between Tonic and Dominant. In my early days of learning Jazz Guitar, I was drawn to try and learn the fast complex lines that players like Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino and Joe Pass were playing. I had some success with this approach, but I always felt that there was something else going on that I was missing. The truth of the matter was that I didn't have a strong aural sense of the most basic movements in jazz harmony which are between the fundamental chord types; Tonic, Dominant, and Sub Dominant. In this lesson we strip things right back to what I believe is the most important harmonic movement; from Tonic, to the Dominant, and back again.
