Shared interests lay at the foundation of successful cities, and successful democracies. But recently, have we lost the thread? Jennifer Keesmaat, the former City Planner of Toronto, lays out a vision for re-engaging with our shared interests, starting with housing. As the former Chief Planner for the City of Toronto, Jennifer is known for creating places where people can flourish. Over the past decade, she has been recognized for her innovative work in Canadian municipalities. Overseeing over 4,000 development applications annually, Jennifer has informed some of the biggest decisions that continue to shape our city. Most recently, she was named one of the most influential people in Toronto by Toronto Life magazine and one of the most powerful people in Canada by MacLean’s magazine. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
