Prayer The importance of prayer Prayer in Islam The role of prayer in

rayer is the pillar of religion and the second pillar of Islam. Allah Almighty says: "Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times" (Quran, An-Nisa: 103). This verse highlights the importance of prayer and the obligation to perform it at its designated times. Abandoning prayer is considered one of the major sins that exposes the individual to the punishment of Allah. Allah also says: "But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and followed their desires, so they are going to meet evil" (Quran, Maryam: 59). He also states: What has brought you into Saqar? They will reply, We were not of those who prayed(Quran, Al-Muddathir: 42) The Messenger of Allah said: "Indeed, between a man and polytheism and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer." Allah, the Exalted, said: "Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows what you do." (Quran 29:45) Indeed, the servant who establishes prayer, fulfilling its pillars, conditions, and humility, will have his heart illuminated, his soul purified, his faith increased, and his desire for good strengthened, while his inclination toward evil diminishes or disappears. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: The first thing a servant will be questioned about on the Day of Judgment from his deeds is his prayer. If it is sound, he will succeed and prosper, but if it is corrupt, he will fail and lose."[4] Prayer expiates sins. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: "The five daily prayers, from one Friday to the next, and from one Ramadan to the next, serve as expiation for what is between them, as long as one avoids major sins.[5] Prayer establishes a direct connection between the soul and Allah, reminding the self of the meeting with Allah and gazing upon His noble face on the Day of Judgment. Prayer increases a servant's faith in their Lord and grants them tranquility and inner peace throughout their day. Prayer improves the behavior of individuals and society as a whole. It strengthens a Muslim during times of calamity and protects them from drifting away. "Praying in congregation increases the reward, eliminates class differences, unifies feelings, and attracts others to learn about Islam. It grants the servant light and tranquility."،
