Gerald Mamman Musa, a Hausa-speaking Nigerian who is currently a communications professor has been appointed by Pope Francis as the first Hausa bishop of the diocese of Kastina, Northwestern Nigeria. Bishop Gerald appreciated his late catechist-father for instilling in him passion for the Catholic faith. He revealed that his motivation was fully sponsored by his father, who he gave him the realization concerning the importance of Eucharist as a catechist, and he developed his interests in the translation of sacred texts, spiritual books and all others pertaining to the religion.
