It’s no secret that I absolutely loved the soundtrack of UNDERTALE by Toby Fox. So many elements of the soundtrack are reminiscent of classic RPG music, which is far and away my favorite type of video game music, since it’s so thematic and melodically-based. You can imagine my excitement when I heard that there was a “sequel” to UNDERTALE that was dropped right around Halloween. By now, there’s an abundance of DELTARUNE covers on YouTube, and I thought I’d add mine to the heap. Chapter 1 of DELTARUNE was a joy to play through, and I’m very excited to see what more Toby and his team will be able to create in the future. DELTARUNE’s music has so many of the qualities that I loved from UNDERTALE, so I’m very glad to see those make a comeback. I loved the dialogue and unique character development throughout the story. Musically speaking, this is a very very big arrangement. There’s around 70 tracks of audio I this, I think! I wanted to add a lot of little small elements in different parts of this arrangement to reflect the grandeur that I believe this song has! There are a lot of elements featured in this particular video that aren’t in a ton of my videos, including flute (I’m studying it at school this semester!), vocals, and lots and lots of layered parts. When mixing this song, I used a few Anamanaguchi tracks as references! I was going for an “acoustic chiptune” sort of vibe with this, if that’s even a thing.
