The earlier deadline for the PMAY-G was March 31, 2021. Similarly, in August 2022, the union cabinet approved the extension of the PMAY-Urban scheme till December 2024, as against the earlier March 2022 deadline. However, the benefits of the credit-linked subsidy scheme (CLSS) under the scheme were available to home buyers only till September 30, 2022. Earlier, March 31, 2022 was set as the last date to avail of benefits under the CLSS. Due to lack of clarity, most banks in India have currently stopped offering CLSS to borrowers. While some deadlines have been extended, benefits offered under Section 80EEA to promote affordable housing came to an end on March 31, 2022, since the government made no announcement to continue with the section in Union Budget 2022-23.
