Royal St David's - more affectionately known as 'Harlech' - is a truly unique place. Golf has been played here since 1894 when Harold Finch-Hatton was initially using the land to practice his boomerang skills on the links. The club was generally a second club for people heading to the coast, much like Westward Ho! We had a superb time here, having stopped over in town after Welshpool we were on the links at first light, with an afternoon game lined up at Borth & Ynyslas! The 750 year old castle that sits above the links at all times has its own unique history and is a UNESCO heritage site. IN fact, the castle was the last to fall in the revolt which ousted Charles I from power in 1642. We recorded a fascinating podcast with member Richard Fisher - the clubs archivist and one of Britains leading historians to bring the story to life, and will be released on Friday 10th May.
