Following the passage of the 26th Amendment, the top judge was to now be “appointed on the recommendation of the Special Parliamentary Committee from amongst the three most senior” SC judges. Justice Yahya Afridi, Pakistan's 30th chief justice, has been named for a fixed term of three years, beginning on October 26. While two senior most judges Justice Mansoor Ali Sha and Justice Muneeb Akhtar , who have been superseded , are expected to resign.
