How to Make Kueh Bolu/ Kuih Bahulu

This is how to make the delicious Nyonya Kueh: Kueh Bolu/ Kuih Bahulu. It is light and fluffy on the inside but crisp on the outside. Enjoy it as an morning or afternoon tea snack with your drink of choice. I love mine with a hot cup of tea. It is a super simple recipe that the whole family can make and enjoy together. Ingredients : 180gm Flour 1tsp Baking Powder 180gm sugar 5 eggs 1/2 tsp Vanilla Essence Method : 1. Sift flour and baking flour together. Bake in oven briefly - This will remove excess moisture 2. Briefly warm the sugar in the oven to remove excess moisture Beat sugar and eggs until thick. Add Vanilla Essence. Combine until mixture forms a thick ribbon. (This process may take a little while) 3. Gently fold the flour mixture into the egg mixture. Tip : mix 1/4 of each mixture at one time. This avoids the kueh becoming too dense from overworking 4. Preheat oven to 180°C 5. Lightly grease the kueh bolu mould and heat in the oven for approximately 10 minutes. Wipe away excess oil. 6. Pour the mixture into the mould until 75% full 7. Bake in oven at 180°C for 15 mins or until golden brown colour. 8. Remove the kueh from the mould and allow to cool on a airing rack. 9. Repeat steps 5 - 8, until batter has finished 10. Enjoy your Kueh, by itself, or with a drink of choice. If you do not have a Kuih Bolu mould you can use a waffle maker or an electric Kuih bolu maker. Hope you found this video helpful.
