BOSS GE-7 EQ noise comparison: 2024 Model vs 1991 Model. Visuals only, no audio

Note: there is no audio for this video, just visuals. This is a comparison of the noise levels of two BOSS GE-7 EQs, one from 2024 (on the left) and one from 1991 (on the right). The 1991 GE-7 is made in Japan, the 2024 model is made in Malaysia. To make the comparison fair, I powered both pedals using brand new batteries. I didn't use power adaptors as the old GE-7 uses a 12v supply, while the newer one uses 9v. I used an Electro-Harmonix TriParallel Mixer to run each pedal in separate loops to isolate them from each other. Regardless of the light on the pedal, the signal is only passed through the pedal when the mixer loop is turned on (when the indicator light is on). I compared the pedals - - in bypass mode (pedals lights off) - pedals on, but with all the sliders in the neutral position (unity gain) - pedals on, with all the sliders at maximum I always thought that the new GE-7 was slightly noisier than the old one. The video shows the newer GE-7 boosts the signal more than the old one. This is why it seems noisier, it just gives more gain, especially to the upper frequency bands.
