BOTSWANA in the rainy season | Moremi Game reserve, Khwai Magotho

As the dawn breaks, casting a luminescent glow across the green grass, the symphony of nature awakens. Welcome to the wondrous expanse of the Moremi Game Reserve, a haven of primal beauty and raw magnificence. Graceful giraffes stretch their necks toward the heavens and gentle giants traverse the landscape, leaving massive foot imprints upon the very earth itself. In the heart of Africa's untamed embrace, where the golden sun paints the horizon with fiery hues, lies a realm where the wild reigns supreme and adventure awaits those with a daring spirit. Moremi truly is a place like no other Deflating tired is a necessity when traveling on Botswana's corrugated gravel roads. It not only puts less strain on your vehicle but also protects the road. The road was full of water pools, but most had a detour road which was dry. The bridges always feel unsafe, especially with such heavy vehicles and caravans. Third bridge is an open and wild camp where the animals roam free between the campsites. The campsites are very spacious, with a boma and a braai, as well as a running tap. The ablutions are also very well maintained, and we have never had any issues. Third Bridge also has a shop that has some basic things like bottled water drinks, and toiletries. Moremi's open plains and lush greenery serve as a sanctuary where the drama of survival unfolds daily. The open plains are a haven for an incredible array of wildlife. Cunning predators like lions prowl the grasses while general plains game gracefully navigate the terrain. The air resonates with the symphony of birdcalls, from the lilting melodies of tiny birds to the sharp calls of fish eagles in the distant. The Moremi does not have a shortage of wildlife, and the sounds are truly amazing We had a very fruitful game drive after all the rains. On our way back to our campsite, we found some wild dogs on the move. They ended up heading in the direction of the campsites at Third Bridge One of the most beautiful areas in the Moremi Game reserve is paradise pools. The entire area around was full of water, but this just added to the beauty of Paradise Pools That afternoon, which was our last day in the Moremi, we finally got to see some proper Moremi Lions They were proper lazy lions, and had a very full tummy The Third Bridge area is always rewarding. The sightings were quite slow, but just being here and unwinding at the campfire makes it worthwhile There were a few places that were badly dug out by other vehicles which made it a bit difficult with a trailer, but fortunately, the Landcruiser 79series has lockers in the front that made it possible to easily get through. We left the Moremi game reserve at Khwai North gate. Just outside the gate is the Khwai village. Here we found a shop with a lot of basic goods, but most importantly we found what was considered gold at this stage, a few blocks of ice. We continued on the transit road towards Khwai Mogotho, and as soon as we turned towards the campsites, the scenery immediately changed. The drive from Third Bridge to the Khwai Community Campsites is a long one. But unwinding with a fire in the wild makes it all worth it. The Khwai River is an overflow of the Okavango and forms the border of the Moremi Game Reserve. The area surrounding the river is very fruitful with a lot of wildlife, especially elephants. The Khwai area is well known for its large elephant population and encounters in the campsites. After a proper bath, they throw dirt on themselves. The dirt acts as a barrier to protect their skin from insects, as well as some protection from the sun The Khwai river boasts with some of the best elephant sightings that we have ever seen We were in Khwai on Christmas day, so we did not drive around a lot and the ellies gave us hours of entertainment, after which we returned to our campsite and prepared a proper feast for that afternoon Khwai Magotho, once again, did not disappoint. It is one of those places where you will always find… something new… something different, some other way to recharge your own mental batteries. We were pleasantly surprised with the effort that the Khwai Community makes to keep the area clean. The ablutions were working perfectly and were always clean. All the campsites are large and provide enough shade as well Thank you for watching. Don’t forget to hit the like button.
