Mandolin Mondays #178: Swedish guitarist Roger Tallroth of the band Väsen makes a special appearance on Mandolin Mondays this week with an original tune played on his Northfield flat top octave mandolin. Though a talented multi-instrumentalist, Roger is perhaps most well known for his guitar work with the popular Swedish Folk group Väsen. He was a forming member of the trio which is now celebrating it's 30th anniversary. They just released a phenomenal new album to celebrate the occasion entitled Rule of 3. Over the years, he's made much music with the likes of Scott Nygaard, Mike Marshall, Darol Anger, Chris Thile, and many others. He's also been a pioneer of guitar cross-tunings--his development of the A-D-A-D-A-D tuning (or "Tallroth Tuning") has become a new standard for tradmusic in Scandinavia.
