I just want to make it abundantly clear that of course I think the name of Jesus has power. the point I’m trying to make here is that sometimes, in God’s sovereignty, He allows evil things to take place and evil entities to oppress for His divine purposes...no matter how many times we “rebuke in the name of Jesus”. Jesus’ name absolutely has power but it’s not some magic spell. It only has power because God does His will and if His will is to allow oppression to stay, then it will. (the book of Job, story of Joseph in Genesis, Paul’s thorn, David running from Saul, literally Judas lol etc)* Verses: “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
