How to shorten a Zipper: Jeans, Jackets, Cushions... *Downtown Tailoring*

Hello friends! I've been receiving a lot of questions about shortening zippers. Certainly, when you have an alteration shop, you need to be prepared with all sorts of zippers to take all the replacing-zippers jobs that come on a daily basis. This is why I have hundreds of zippers, and yet, from time to time, there are certain zippers that I still don’t have. A strategy that I use is to buy all kinds of zippers that I need in a standard longer size, and then I cut them to the right size for each job. This reduces my zippers’ needs by about two thirds. In this video, I want to show you how to shorten a variety of zippers including ones that tailors and seamstress around the world usually don't think is possible to shorten: the coil zipper. That's a tricky one that you can shorten too! There are other examples with metal zippers, plastic zippers, invisible zippers either for skirts, pants, jackets, house articles, etc. I'm showing you how to shorten them and how to get different finishes.
