Welcome to a new Italian lesson! Today you’ll learn the jobs in Italian and some basic vocabulary about work. --------------------------- SUMMARY OF THE LESSON ------------------------- The lesson is structured in two parts. PART 1: In the first part of this lesson, I’ll show you how to say some of the most frequent jobs in Italian. They’re grouped into categories to make it easier to memorize them. 1. Health: dottore/dottoressa (doctor), infermiere/infermiera (nurse), farmacista (pharmacist), dentista (dentist) 2. Security: polizziotto/poliziotta (policeman/policewoman), vigile del fuoco (firefighter), militare (soldier) 3. Service providers: avvocato (lawyer), contabile (accountant), architetto (architect), ingegnere (engineer), meccanico (mechanic), idraulico (plumber) 4. Fashion & Beauty: stilista (fashion designer), modello/modella (models), parrucchiere/parrucchiera (hairdresser), estetista (beautician) 5. Tv/Shows: attore (actor), attrice (actress), musicista (musician), cantante (singer), ballerino/ballerina (dancer) 6. Food & Drinks: cuoco/cuoca (chef), cameriere (waiter), cameriera (waitress), barista (barman/barmaid), panettiere/panettiera (baker) 7. Transport/Travel: autista (driver/bus driver), tassista (taxi driver), camionista (truck driver), pilota (airplane pilot) 8. Education: insegnante (generic teacher), maestro/maestra (teacher in primary school), professore/professoressa (teacher in high school or at the university), studente/studentessa (student) 9. Art: artista (artist), pittore/pittrice (painter), scrittore/scrittrice (writer/author), fotografo/fotografa (photographer) 10. Sport: atleta (athlete), calciatore/calciatrice (football player), tennista (tennis player), allenatore/allenatrice (coach) PART 2: In the second part of the lesson, you’ll learn some basic words about work with examples of how to use them in a real context. 1. Lavoro = job 2. Ferie = annual leaves/holiday 3. Capo = manager 4. Collega = co-worker (watch the plural form!) 5. Riunione = meeting 6.
