in this video i talk about how i get the direct outs from the mpc and the mix down from the teac. essentially, i have the 8 direct outs still going into my tascam model 24 for multitracking. i added the monitor outs from the teac model 3 into the model 24 so i can record that as well. i wanted to use the pan pots on the mixer and get a better stereo image. in order to do so, you need to assign groups to make a left and right signal on the master bus. in my case i'm using groups 3 and 4, 3 being left and 4 being right. this creates a stereo group (3(L) + 4(R)) in the master bus for panning. i might've made it more confusing in the video since i can't speak sometimes lol but hopefully this written explanation clears it up. from then on, i assign channels to a group, either 1, 2, 3, or 4, and set levels and eqs and record the on board mix into pro tools as a single stereo track. i capture the panning, eqs, and overall gluey sound of the mixer. simultaneously, i'm still capturing the direct outs into pro tools. i have the option of sending the stems out or redoing the mix entirely in the future without trying to find the beat again or remembering my settings on the mixer. i hope this video was helpful and got the message across. i apologize for being sick and the sick noises i make throughout the video. hopefully it's concise and y'all get the point and don't get confused lol Lunch Break Beats Batch 1 Beats 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 July 26th, 2024 All streaming platforms jgiscooltoo.com jgiscooltoo.bandcamp.com soundcloud.com/jgiscooltoo instagram/twitter: @jgiscooltoo
