DIY Activity Board - Montessori Activities

This fun DIY activity is perfect for working on those fine motor skills, colors, color sorting, and shapes, and it also offers lots of opportunities for speech development!🙌🏼 Supplies Needed: 🔹Cardboard (a shallow box or shoe box lid would work best) 🔹Crayons or Markers (we used Smooth Sticks from @weareooly ) 🔹Liquid Watercolors or Food Coloring 🔹Small Screwdriver (or the tip of a pen would also work) 🔹Q-Tips Steps: 🔸Trace shapes onto your piece of cardboard and use crayons or markers to make each shape a different color. 🔸 Use a small screwdriver or the tip of a pen to make small holes along the outline of each shape. 🔸 Add a small amount of liquid watercolors or food coloring (in the matching colors of your shapes) to small cups and mix with a small amount of water. 🔸Count out how many Q-Tips you’ll need for each shape and then stain the ends of them by dipping them into the color mixtures. Lay out to dry. 🔸Cut the dried Q-Tips in half and mix them up in a small bowl. 🔸Hand the activity over to your little one and let them get busy playing and learning! 🙌🏼 My kids love DIY activities and Little Miss instantly claimed this one as her own (this two year old is not a fan of sharing.🤪) But eventually Little Man got a turn too and he enjoyed it just as much! Also, I’m sure none of you noticed, but Little Miss has hands and nails full of dirt because she was playing in the mud prior to me handing her this activity. I though about cleaning her up first and then decided “who cares”... but now the dirt is all I see. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂
