Li Yugang - Pear Blossom Song ~ Spring Festival Gala 2020 ENGLISH SUB

Li Yugang sang "Pear Blossom Song" (梨花頌) at the Spring Festival Gala in Baishan, China on January 17th, 2020. The subtitles were created from a combination of many online translation sources, research and some poetic license. The song is based off of the "Ma Yipo" incident in China, back in the Tang Dynasty. Ma Yipo (马嵬坡) is a poem (and location in China) which involves Emperor Xuanzong and his concubine, (Yang Yuhuan or Yang Guifei), all based on a true story. It's complicated, but at one point, the Emperor was forced to order Yang's execution.
