The Ribble Valley MP for some 32 years has infuriated the local people by announcing that he is going to back-stab the very volunteers that he has publicly backed in the take-over of Waddow Hall in order to feather his own nest. Waddow Hall Trust https://waddowhalltrust.co.uk/ is a community organisation set up last year when Girl Guiding UK decided to close the historic building in Clitheroe. The WHT have been fundraising for the past twelve months but according to a post from Nigel Evans, who has been involved and publicly supported the group, WHT hve been unsuccessful in their bid to buy Waddow Hall from Girl Guiding UK. But it turns out that Nigel Evans is involved with a rival bid with un-named "contacts" and he plans to run a new charity organisation doing the work that WHT have pledged to carry out. He claims that it has been signed off, but Girl Guiding UK are reluctant to confirm this. Nigel Evans has been involved with Waddow Hall Trust's fundraising and media appeals over the past 12 months, as the local group have worked tirelessly to save the site from permanent closure and to return it for use of Girl Guiding organisations nationwide. His announcement has caused a great deal of stress and upset to the Waddow Hall Trust volunteers and the wider community in the Ribble Valley.
