This is the original concept presentation for the US $ 45 Billion, Mumbai Eastern Waterfront scheme. The project was first presented at the Asian Development Bank in Manila on 9th June 2016. This is the first project in India whose Financing will be based on the Concept of Urban Equity Withdrawal (UEW). The unique feature of this Hybrid Financing is that it will also finance a 2000 MW offshore Wind Farm and the entire sum of US $ 45 Bn will be raised within the project area, with NO Budgetary support required from either the Central or State Govt. This kind of project is ideal to help Maharashtra State recover from the Covid 19 crisis as it will create lakhs of New Jobs in Mumbai while also creating a Financial centre 7 - 9 times the size of Canary Wharf in London. The project also represents a huge earnings opportunity for India's Banks (for placing Asset Backed Securities internationally) and by providing advisory services. There might be a need to think in terms of Large projects in India as we need to create New Jobs for the millions of young people who are entering the job market each year.
