Join us for a walk in Hastings, East Sussex, England, UK. Our walk starts on George Street in Hastings Old Town. We then head out onto Hastings Seafront along East Parade, then down Rock-a-Nore Road and finish our walk on Rock-a-Nore Beach. Along the way we take a look at the cliff railway, the Hastings Miniature Railway, the tall fisherman's huts where the fishermen dry their nets and the fishing boats of Hastings Land Based Fishing Fleet. Hastings is a town in East Sussex on England’s southeast coast. It's known for the 1066 Battle of Hastings, fought on a nearby field where Battle Abbey now stands. The Norman ruins of Hastings Castle, once home to William the Conqueror, overlook the English Channel. It later became one of the medieval Cinque Ports. In the 19th century, it was a popular seaside resort, as the railway allowed tourists and visitors to reach the town. East along the shingle seafront of Stade beach, Hastings Fishermen’s Museum and Shipwreck Museum document maritime history. Hastings Contemporary (formerley The Jerwood Gallery) shows contemporary art. Today, Hastings is a fishing port with the UK's largest beach-based fishing fleet.
