🔴 Subhash broke it to us that they are hired by third party vendors to clean the tanks and are paid a meagre amount such as ₹150 for six hours. 🙏🏻 🔴 Every year thousands of men, women, and even children risk their lives to perform this hazardous job, often without any protective gear. 🔴 Increased exposure to toxic gases in the manholes and septic tanks result in visual impairment, respiratory problems and even seizures. 🔴 These workers are also at risk of death by asphyxiation which occurs as a result of the gas.
