DIY Diamond lamp

First upload of a random project from 2022. 2 x late 90's lavalamps, one of them went bad, wax was beyond saving ... Instead of throwing it away, it got diamonds and low power lasers ... Acrylic diamonds, water, kitchen salt and a drop of dish soap ... I found a video that explains it with more detail from Brainiac:    • Make a DIY flowing crystals lamp.  (G...   Extra tips: First of all ... Do not use lasers over 2mw !! Use 1mw lasers or dial the diodes down to a safe output. Any drinkable water and kitchen salt works well and stays clear for years if the water keeps moving ... Turn the lamp on atleast once a week. If the water sits for months without moving it might get cloudy. Also sea salt makes the water very cloudy. You might need to add extra water in the winter and extra salt in the summer because it is very temperature sensitive. The small lamp had a 25w bulb, but it gets hot and the diamonds will sink to the bottom after a short time ... Now it has 15 cm of regular 12v LED strip, 5 cm of red, 5 cm of blue and 5 cm of 405nm UV. Very low power and just warm enough to make the water move without heating it up. The 90's rocket lamp is running at 5v. It has a neopixel ring with 16 pixels (WS2812) pointing downwards and 3 pixels pointing upwards into the bottle (Up mostly turned off when the lasers are on) connected to a controller (SP110E), 2 x 650nm red lasers and 1 x 405nm violet laser. Another way to make the diamonds move is to add a 24v heating element from a 3d printer and a step down module (LM2596), dial it down to around 2 to 3v. Stick a magnet on the heater and another magnet at the bottom of the bottle ... Make sure it doesnt go burning skin hot because magnets do not like heat ... Soon i will upload another version ...
