4 DAYS HIKING in Wilsons Promontory National Park in Victoria, Australia | Travel vlog

Welcomed with stunning beaches and beautiful trails, I was very excited to begin our hike in Wilsons Promontory National Park in Victoria, Australia. We had booked campsites for 3 nights in the southern section at Refuge Cove, Roaring Meg and Oberon Bay and couldn’t wait to spend the next 4 days out in the wilderness. After parking our car at the overnight hikers carpark in Tidal River, we caught the free shuttle bus to Telegraph Saddle where we began our hike. We headed for Sealers Cove where we swam and had lunch. Then we continued on to Refuge Cove where we set up camp for the night. It was very close to the beach and there were a lot of boats in the cove also! Day two we started early as we knew we had at least 24km to walk! The first climb was up to Kersops Peak where we had a great view over the surrounding bays and ocean as far as the eye could see! We went for a swim at the next bay that we hiked through before stopping at Little Waterloo Bay for a short break. The next beach, Waterloo Bay was the most stunning of the whole hike in my opinion! The sand was white, and the ocean was a beautiful bright blue, absolutely stunning. We continued on to Wilsons Promontory Lighthouse which was so beautiful. You can actually stay in the accommodation there in little cottages and there’s a small museum there too. The final push to Roaring Meg was a struggle and we arrived 13 hours after we left Refuge Cove that morning. The campsite was beautiful by the creek. Day three began with a two-hour return hike to South Point which is the most southerly part of mainland Australia. It was really cool to visit the site and had incredible views of surrounding islands and out towards the Bass Strait. We then only had a few hours to hike before we arrived at Oberon Bay. We passed Halfway Hut and Telegraph Junction before reaching our campsite for the night which happened to be New Year’s Eve and a perfect place to welcome in 2021. We went for a swim in the ocean and then watched the final sunset for the year. Day four, the last day was nice and easy. Only a 7.6km walk through Little Oberon Bay and back to Tidal River. We had great views of Mount Oberon and Norman Beach. Overall an incredible hike that I would highly recommend in one of Victoria’s most beautiful national parks.
