Typhoon Ma-on triggers landslides, rainstorms in S China's Guangdong, Hainan

Typhoon Ma-on, the ninth typhoon of the year, triggered rainstorms and strong winds in south China's Guangdong and Hainan provinces, leaving roads flooded. It made landfall at around 10:30 a.m. on August 25 near Maoming City in Guangdong Province, with wind speeds reaching 118.8 km/h, then moved northwest at about 25 km/h, entering neighboring Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region later in the day. Scenic areas were closed and fishing boats were recalled to harbor. In Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, waves crested as high as five meters.
