Self & Identity + Intercultural Communication

There is an undeniable symbiosis between culture and our identity (or more accurately identities); each informs, influences, and shares in the creatin of the other. As such, an understanding of self and identity is critical to the development of effective intercultural skills. This mini-lecture defines some core terms and concepts of the self, examines the intersecting principles of identity and culture, addresses the phenomenon of culture shock, and explores the implications for improving intercultural skills.
