“At Delta Brac Housing Finance, we used to mobilize our funds basically through fixed deposits. Last year we thought for the first time that we would diversify our fund basket a bit with Zero Coupon Bonds. So, when we discussed a little bit about it, a few companies approached us and UCB Investment Limited was one of them. We took their proposal to the board and hired them for the job. Our board members were very confident about them because even though UCB Investment Limited is a new company, those who are in their management are very skilled and they can complete this job professionally. So, we initiated this job after getting the approvals from our board in June last year, and from Bangladesh Bank and BSEC in October of the same year. Basically, UCB Investment had done that job. The mobilization of Tk. 300 Crore worth of Zero Coupon Bond was initiated. After that the market dynamics changed a bit and the interest rate situation also increased. However, we have successfully reached the final stage of this bond mobilization. This whole transaction, our journey of almost a year with UCB Investment was effective for us. We have always had very good cooperation from UCB Investment. We would like to specially mention Mr. Tanzim and Ms. Sanjana who have worked closely with us. They had always briefed us prior to each issue; there was no surprise element. As a team, they have done a tremendous job.”
